Digital Protection & Control for EHV Substation in Megalopolis Greece

This key project for the Greek transmission system, commissioned by the Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), concerns the Megalopolis 400 kV air-insulated extra-high-voltage (EHV) substation. With 36 bays and equipment operating at 400 kV, 150 kV and 30 kV, it is one of the largest extra-high-voltage substations in Greece.

PROTASIS’ scope of work included:

Short-circuit calculations and protection coordination studies
Design, supply and commissioning of the Substation Automation System (SAS)
Supply of all substation protection and control equipment
Supply of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) for integration with IPTO’s remote control centre
Substation SCADA system development and commissioning
Substation commissioning and start-up
